Overview
UnderCover XP is a small freeware program that can help you to print CD or DCD covers easily. Also features support for CD or DVD label printing.


Review
UnderCover XP was suggested to me by one of the many Dutch readers of this blog, Marco. Although I don’t print CD or DVD covers on a daily basis I do need a program to help me with that at least once a month, so I was delighted to give UnderCover XP a try. First of all it’s a very small freeware program, the setup package is less than 1 MB! I chose the poster of one of my favorite classic movies for this test, “For Whom The Bell Tolls”, with Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman.

You have a lot of templates to choose from and the program will automatically scale your image to make it become suitable for front covers, back covers, inlays, DVD Boxes. You can even have CD labels built and printed but unfortunately you can’t choose which region of the original image to use, the program simply scales down the entire thing and punches a hole right through the middle.

A good thing is that you can add more templates through the graphical format editor, so you can build your own templates and have them saved for future use.

A good freeware program overall which offers good functionality for free. The lastest version was released early this month, so it seems that support is still there.
